A Lemont family in need will receive a free roof from Baltic Roofing.
Baltic formerly had its offices in Lemont, and the owners are Lemont residents, although the company is now located in Willowbrook. Baltic was able to team up with the Hope and Friendship Foundation to find a family in need.
“We’ve been Lemont residents ourselves since the end of 2010,” Dovile Gaidukeviciene from Baltic said. “We love living in Lemont and we had great success business-wise in Lemont. And since we are in a position where we are able to give back to the community, it was a no-brainer to choose a Lemont family”.
Terri O’Neill-Borders of Hope and Friendship said she learned Baltic was in a position to help someone in need of a roof. She had learned of a family who was in need of help, as a family member had recently been diagnosed with MS.
“We are in a position where we are able to give back to the community, it was a no-brainer.”
Hope and Friendship was recently able to fix up the family’s home, and O’Neill-Borders said she saw then that the roof of the home was completely rotten. Soon after, she introduced the homeowners to the owner of Baltic, and he was convinced this was a situation they could improve for the family.
“They are overwhelmed with this offer of help that they feel they can never completely communicate the appreciation for,” O’Neill-Borders said of the family.
Gaidukeviciene said learning about the family hit close to her heart, since her mom was also diagnosed with MS about six years ago.
Baltic will replace the family’s roof, including all of the components and water management system like gutters and downspouts. The company’s supplier, ABC Supply in Mokena, has also agreed to provide the materials at no cost.
